The Content Marketing Blues
I’ve been writing web content for a long time now and I’ve noticed that a lot of small businesses recognize that they need to improve their online marketing efforts but they just don’t have a clue how to do that.
And no wonder – the world of online marketing sometimes resembles a private club filled with experts who drop words like “algorithm” and “optimization” at the drop of a hat. They have more than a passing acquaintance with such topics as analytics and Klout scores and the assumption seems to be that if you don’t know your inbound marketing funnel from your open rate then you have totally missed the boat. There might even be no hope for you.
I get it!
The world of content marketing can be intimidating and I spend my days helping businesses get the results they seek from their online marketing material.
The businesses I help fall into several categories and if this describes you, please read on:
- You know you need to improve your online marketing efforts but you just don’t know how to get started.
- You started to develop an online marketing strategy at one point but you realized you just aren’t sure how to go about it and, up until now, you haven’t been sure who to ask about it.
- Maybe you suspect that you might be losing out on customers that are actually finding your competitors online instead of you.
- Maybe you’ve made a start on your online content marketing efforts and you’re looking for new distinctions that will help you do what you’re doing more effectively so you can increase your client base and grow your business.
- Maybe you’ve attended content marketing courses or workshops before and gotten all excited about getting your program going – but then went back to your office and the project didn’t go anywhere. (And if that’s you then I bet you’re feeling pretty frustrated because you KNOW that this is important but you just haven’t made the time to make it happen.
- Or, finally, maybe you have decided to improve your online marketing efforts and you know you need to do it but you don’t consider yourself a marketing genius and you could really use some help and advice on how to make this as easy as possible.
Whatever your reasons for exploring content marketing in more detail, please take heart.
Although there are countless distinctions that can be made in this exciting field it is, at its core, a process that can be taught, learned and duplicated and, once you have a program up and running, and if you’re willing to cultivate your results with a fair bit of consistency, it is a very sophisticated way to generate more business.
